Before you fly home
Ask your clinic directly how many days after your specific procedure it's considered safe to fly, and follow that guidance rather than a general rule — this varies significantly by procedure.
Get any prescribed medication, compression garments, or aftercare kit before you leave the country, rather than trying to source it at home.
During the flight and after
For longer-haul patients, ask about moving/stretching during the flight and any garment or positioning advice specific to your procedure.
Arrange to have someone available at home for the first few days after a surgical procedure, particularly if you had a general anaesthetic.
Follow-up care
Confirm before you travel how follow-up works once you're home — whether that's a remote check-in with your treating clinic or a note to hand to a local doctor if needed.
If anything feels wrong during recovery, contact your treating clinic first — they know exactly what was done and are best placed to advise.
